Bulgarian Medieval Costume - traveling exhibition

Kalina Atanasova (Badamba) and Alexander Minchev

Since 2004 I have been engaged in the study, analysis and reconstruction of XIII-XIV century` garment - from Bulgaria and the Balkans.
I am the author of

I also make replicas of ancient costumes, jewelery and other accessories by the method of experimental archeology. My works can be viewed at Badamba Workshop website

In order to make our participation in medieval festivals easier, I and my husband, engineer Alexander Minchev, reconstructed the pavilion of a traveling merchant. This is a portable booth that is folded to a very compact size, extremely lightweight and comfortable for long-distance transportation. We use it to exhibit a sample of my researches and part of my inventory – head adorments, clothing, jewelery and accessories, war equipment and printed materials. This booth has been extremely successful in attracting interest from both festival goers and the general public.

Below is a selection of photos of my work from various festivals.
